MSCAnd MSK is a big shipping company in the world, we also often cooperate with them, and now MSC is also developing better and better, and is expected to catch up with MSK.

According to data released by Alphaliner recently, MSC is expected to surpass alliance partner Maersk in the next two years to become the world's largest shipping boss.

It is reported that MSC has ordered five new 23,000 teu ULCV ships from South Korea's Daewoo Shipyard, which will make MSC's orders suddenly reach 16, and will increase the original capacity by 305,352 teu.

Daewoo Shipyard said this week that the order value of each ship is $152 million, five of which will be delivered in August 2021.

This will promote the development of MSC, including the current chartering capacity, reaching a level of just under 4 million teu, Maersk has expressed the hope that he can maintain this level.

It is understood that in the second quarter earnings call conference in August, Maersk CEO Soren Skou responded: "We hope to maintain discipline in production capacity and insist on us. The target of about 4 million TEU has been deployed because it helps us to increase utilization and control costs."

At present, Maersk's capacity is about 4.2 million teu, but Mr. Skou said that this figure is attributed to some ships carrying low-sulfur scrubbers, resulting in higher charter tonnage than normal.

Unlike MSC, Maersk has been short-selling for a while and currently orders only 45,000 teu. According to this trend, it is no longer the world's largest shipping company. Instead, MSC will become the industry leader with its 23,765 teu MSC Gulsun with scrubbers currently providing services between Asia and Northern Europe.

With the threat of MSC approaching, Maersk’s long-term dominance in the shipping industry will be terminated. The Maersk board of directors may face pressure to redeploy its capacity strategy. Experts believe that this is likely to cause Maersk to shift its focus to the acquisition market and use new The acquisition method to support the growth of capacity.

In contrast, MSC has always been influenced by the family, and its strategy insists on organic development of liner business rather than acquisition, which means it needs to be more aggressive in the market!

A few days ago, Maersk senior manager responded to the media saying that "the pace of MSC is too fast, we must be vigilant."
