The world's third ~ merchant ship Mitsui acquired the chemical shipowner


MOL Chemical Tankers (MOLCT), a Singapore-based subsidiary of Merchant Marine Mitsui, has reached an agreement with the equity fund Triton to acquire Danish Tankers, a Danish shipowner, to expand the fleet to 75 vessels.



Upon completion of the transaction, it is expected that the company will be renamed MOL Nordic Tankers starting next month. The current management and staff of Nordic Tankers will remain in the company and the work will remain unchanged.



MOL Chemical Tankers currently operates 56 chemical tankers and ranks third in the world in terms of fleet size. The acquisition of Nordic Tankers will add 19 chemical tankers to its fleet, which is second only to Stolt and Odfjell.

The history of Nordic Tankers dates back to 1962 and was acquired by Triton in 2012.
