The ship positioning and information query function of the maintenance network shows that the "EVER LENIENT" was built in 2014, registered in the United Kingdom, with a length of 335 meters and a capacity of approximately 9,466TEU.
Before the incident, the ship was on a voyage from Chiwan, China, and berthed at Pasir Panjang Pier in Singapore in the early morning of April 10. It was originally planned to go to Port Klang, Malaysia the next day.
At the time of the incident, the container ship was undergoing regular loading and unloading operations.
After the accident, the Singapore Civil Defense Force took the lead in fire-fighting operations. Firefighting forces suppressed and continued to cool down the fire overnight to prevent re-ignition.
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore simultaneously dispatched patrol boats to conduct maritime surveillance in the waters where the incident occurred, and used drones to conduct aerial monitoring to provide all-round support for on-site rescue.
The emergency response team of the Port of Singapore Group also arrived at the scene immediately to cooperate with the response, and efficient coordination among multiple parties ensured that the fire was quickly controlled.
On April 11, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore issued a notice confirming that the open fire on the ship had been completely extinguished, and continuous cooling operations on site had eliminated residual heat sources.
Announcement from the official website of the Port of Singapore Authority
The accident did not cause any casualties, all crew members on board were safe, and no secondary problems such as fuel leakage and marine environmental pollution occurred.
The overall operation of Pasir Panjang Terminal has not been affected. Other berths and loading and unloading operations in the port area remain in normal operation.
Currently, PSA is assisting in the safe unloading of fire-affected containers and conducting subsequent damage assessments.
Relevant maritime investigation agencies have been fully involved, and the specific cause of the fire is still under further investigation.
