According to recent news from Russia's Tass News Agency, Russian President Putin stated at the investment cooperation talks that he hoped that Chinese companies could participate in the upgrading and reconstruction of the port of Slavyanka, Russia. It is reported that Slavyanka Port is one of the largest trading ports in the Russian Far East, with an annual throughput of millions of tons. At present, the port has maritime freight routes with ports in China such as Dalian, Shanghai, Ningbo, and Huangpu. It is the main port for Russian trade with China. At the moment, most of the facilities used in the port of Slavyanka are built during the Soviet Union, and the facilities have aging problems. According to Russian media sources, after the port facilities have been transformed, the transport capacity of the port of Slavyanka will be greatly enhanced.

At present, China is already a major trading partner of Russia's Primorsky Krai (the area where Slavyanka Port is located). According to data released by the Russian government, there are already more than 200 Chinese-invested companies operating locally. In 2018, Russia's Primorsky Krai (the area where Slavyanka Port is located) accounted for 53% of China's trade volume in the region. It is no exaggeration to say that the port of Slavyanka is the "life port" of Russia's trade with China.

It is worth noting that in addition to upgrading port facilities, Russia also invited China to participate in the construction of roads and railways in the Slavyanka port area. At present, the Slavyanka port and surrounding construction projects have been included in the planning of the "Binhai 2" international transport corridor. According to the plan, the corridor will assume the function of transshipping cargo from northeast China to ports in southern China. According to Russia's estimation, by 2030, Binhai Transport Corridor 2 will be able to accommodate 23 million tons of grain (rice, corn, wheat, etc.) and 15 million tons of container cargo, becoming the most important trade channel for China and Russia besides the Trans-Siberian Railway. Looking forward to the deepening of China-Russia economic cooperation, and also hope that China and Russia can be friendly for generations.
