Maersk and MSC will temporarily stop the AE2 / Swan Asia-Norway route from the end of the month to mid-November, with an estimated 20,000 TEU capacity per week.

So far, the weakening demand and the sharp drop in freight on the Asian-Northern route have reduced the number of shipping companies by two-thirds compared to the same period last year, and it is now the second consecutive year that the 2M Alliance has suspended.

In addition, Maersk said it will "balance its network to accommodate the upcoming market demand for the Golden Week."

MSC said that the suspension of the AE2 / Swan route will "help us to reduce capacity to the expected demand for shipping services", Maersk also said that the recovery of the service will be "consistent with the increase in demand", if the demand for the route continues to weaken, then It is very likely that it will continue to be extended.

According to Alphaliner, 42 Asia-North Europe routes were cancelled in the first three quarters of this year, compared to 16 in the first nine months of 2018.
