Maersk GroupOur freight forwarders often come into contact with a large shipping company and have strong strength. At present, the negotiation of Sino-US trade has a great impact on the form of international shipping. We need to be vigilant at all times, have difficulty in customer service, and dare to innovate.

In an interview with CGTN (CCTV), Maersk Group CEO Søren Skou said that although trade negotiations between China and the United States are going on, the uncertainty of international trade has been increasing. But the tight trade relationship has limited impact on Maersk, the world's largest container carrier. And the real concern of Schroanen is the market risk from the global economic recession.

China is Maersk’s main market for trade frictions. The volume of Maersk’s shipments from China to the United States is declining significantly. However, due to trade transfers, the volume of US imports in the first half of this year actually increased by 2.5%.

Shi Soren said: This means that goods come from other places, and some manufacturing industries have shown a trend that toys, shoes and clothing are moving from China to Southeast Asia, and trade friction has accelerated this trend. Therefore, for Maersk's business, whether the goods are from Vietnam or China, as long as they go to the United States, it does not matter.

Shi Soren said: The trade and trade friction between China and the United States is not the only factor. The uncertainty of the Brexit has also affected the real economy, as well as the Iranian issue. All geopolitical events have reduced consumer confidence and increased people's concerns.

If consumer confidence declines, or companies stop investing because they are afraid of a recession. Therefore, trade friction is more about the impact on the global economy than on the trade between the two countries.

Maersk called for a rules-based global trading system. Shi Soren pointed out: The world needs a free and fair trading environment. He believes that fair competition is not only beneficial to consumers, but also conducive to the creation of low-cost, high-quality products.

Finally, Sorren said frankly that I cannot ignore the fact that the root of trade friction between China and the United States lies in some fundamental problems that gradually develop with the development of China. Today China is the second largest economy. I certainly hope that China and the United States can reach a new agreement on how to conduct trade. The world needs not only free and fair trade, but also a rule-based system.

In fact, in the context of shipping media, Maersk has kept ship and container investments to a minimum in the context of global trade uncertainty. In recent years, the company has not built any ships because Maersk's executive team did not see more space on the market.
