Cosco's European and Near East box shops do well overall

COSCO's European and Near East container terminals have posted throughput increases and decreases between 51.7 and minus 8.7 per cent in January, but do well over all, according to a company statement.

Thus, Piraeus Container Terminal, operated by Cosco Shipping Ports Limited, has reported a January throughput of 393,300 TEU, a year-on-year increase of 18.8 per cent.

But Belgium's Antwerp Gateway suffered a 8.7 per cent decline to 175,000 TEU, while its CSP Zeebrugge Terminal enjoyed a 51.1 per cent increase to 53,000 TEU.

Cosco's Euromax Terminal in Rotterdam enjoyed a 29.1 per cent increase to 258,800 TEU in January.

But Turkey's Kumport Liman January volume suffered an 8.3 decline to 97,700 TEU while Noatum Port Holdings in Spain enjoyed a volume increase of 16.2 per cent to 299,900 TEU last month.

Cosco's Italian Reefer Terminal's volume was up 21.4 per cent to 3,900 TEU in that month while Cosco's Suez Canal Container Terminal posted a 3.7 per cent year-on-year increase in January to 217,900 TEU.
