The official said that the four tankers, named Luna, Pandi, Bering and Bella, were detained on the high seas recently and are currently heading for Houston. The official added that senior U.S. government officials are expected to go to the tanker after it has docked.

The report also cited official sources as saying that the US government seized 4 ships of Iranian fuel cargo destined for Venezuela, claiming that it violated sanctions, and used it to further pressure Iran and Venezuela. The tanker was "taken over" without the use of force, but no details were provided otherwise.

According to a Reuters report, U.S. prosecutors filed a lawsuit last month demanding the confiscation of oil on four oil tankers that Iran was trying to ship to Venezuela. According to reports, this lawsuit aims to prevent Iran from selling oil. This is the latest attempt by the Trump administration to increase pressure on Iran and Venezuela's economy.

A senior American official told the Associated Press that the United States did not use military force to seize Iranian fuel oil cargo. The United States threatened to impose sanctions on shipowners, guarantors and captains to force them to hand over the cargo. The cargo has now become US property. It is not clear where the cargo and ships are located.

Another US official revealed that prosecutors found four Iranian ships transporting 1.1 million barrels of gasoline to Venezuela, but four ships disappeared before reaching Venezuela. Two of them subsequently appeared near Cape Verde in Africa.

"The Wall Street Journal" reported on the 13th that this is the first time the United States has seized Iranian fuel cargo. In early July, U.S. prosecutors filed a lawsuit requesting the seizure of fuel from four oil tankers shipped from Iran to Venezuela. Subsequently, a judge in the District Court of the District of Columbia signed a seizure order. This lawsuit aims to prevent Iran from selling oil, while exerting economic pressure on Iran and Venezuela.
