China Customs announces rule changes effective June 1

THE General Administration of Customs China (GACC) has announced changes in its manifest rules on imports and exports, Hong Kong's Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) has advised its customers.

New rules effective June 1, will demand that manifest submissions must be made 24 hours before loading.

Cargo descriptions must be complete and accurate and the full contact details of the shipper and consignee (or the notifiable party if consignee is As To Order) are mandatory, including the Enterprise Codes.

Examples of Enterprise Codes are China - USCI (Unified Social Credit Identifier), OC (Organisation Code), UK - company number, VAT number, US - CIK (Central Index Key), EIN (employer identification number).

OOCL asks customers to provide accurate and complete shipping instructions before the documentation cut-off time as published on our website and in our Booking Acknowledgement form.

For electronic submissions through My OOCL Centre, additional fields to input the overseas Enterprise Code and the USCI or OC are available in the Shipping Instruction Submission function on our e-commerce platform, said the OOCL announcement.
