It is reported that in the early morning of August 10, a 7107 deadweight Philippine inter-island container crashed into a terminal in the Port of Manila.
According to preliminary reports and images of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), the bow of the container ship and the pier that was hit by the ship suffered severe damage to varying degrees.

According to relevant information, the management company of the container ship "Ocean Abundance" is Oceanic Container Lines (Oceanic Container Lines), which crashed into Manila's North Port at about 3 a.m. on August 10th, local time. At Pier 2, the concrete pier was also severely damaged during the impact.
There is no detailed information on the extent of damage to the ship and the pier.
However, it can be seen from the photos taken at the scene that the ship’s front starboard hull has been severely damaged, and there is a huge crack on the waterline, at least one meter long. There is no doubt that the wharf has also been severely damaged, and the extent of the damage is still unknown.

In fact, after the accident, the ship has been docked at the pier without moving. The reason for the lack of movement may be that the ship cannot be safely towed out due to technical reasons, or the decision to fix (at least partially fix) the huge hole in the impact before moving.
The crew of this container ship told the Coast Guard investigators that the collision was caused by engine failure.People on board reported that the engine had malfunctioned while trying to reverse the ship.

The Coast Guard personnel are currently investigating the crash. The Coast Guard personnel report indicated that the ship’s personnel were not significantly injured as a result of the collision, and there were no obvious signs of oil leakage in the nearby waters.
The container ship OCEAN ABUNDANCE, IMO number 9264221, deadweight 7107, capacity 639 TEU, built in 2003, flying the Philippine flag, management company OCEANIC CONTAINER LINES INC.
