From January 25 to 29, 2021, ReCAAP ISC issued three special warnings on the eastbound route of the Singapore Strait Traffic Separation (TSS). This is the first maritime safety incident alert in 2021 following the turbulence of ships in the region in 2020.
As in the previous case, these three incidents occurred very close in time, especially two incidents occurred within a four-hour interval. In these three incidents, the pirates were found in the cabin. However, fortunately, nothing was stolen, the crew was safe and there was no conflict.
In 2020, 34 incidents were reported in the Singapore Strait. Of these, 30 accidents occurred on the eastbound route, 2 occurred in the prevention zone, 1 occurred on the westbound route, and 1 occurred outside the TSS (south).

Suggest

All ships should be vigilant, take extra precautions, and report all incidents to the nearest coastal country immediately.

The captain and crew should keep abreast of the latest situation and listen to notifications and navigation broadcasts from coastal countries.

Coastal countries should strengthen patrols and law enforcement in their respective sea areas, and strengthen coordination with each other to share information on the latest situation with criminal gangs in order to arrest offenders.
