According to the latest news from foreign media, India's Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) recently seized two containers of "Chinese fireworks and firecrackers" worth approximately 50 million rupees during an operation to crack down on illegal imports, and arrested four relevant personnel.

It is reported that in order to actively crack down on illegal imported fireworks and firecrackers before Diwali, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) of India continues to carry out "Operation Fire Trail".

According to a statement from DRI, they intercepted two 40-foot containers at the Tuticorin port in India, containing 83,520 pieces of Chinese fireworks and firecrackers, which were misdeclared as engineering goods. This batch of contraband worth 50 million rupees (approximately 4.05 million yuan) was seized together with silicone seal guns.

In a coordinated operation conducted from October 14 to 18, DRI officials arrested the importer and based on investigations, arrested three others in Chennai and Tuticorin. All four are in judicial custody for their coordinating role in the case.

During the investigation, officials discovered that the fireworks were illegally imported from the Port of Ningbo, China.

As per India's foreign trade policy, fireworks outlets are "restricted" and require permission from the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) and the Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organization (PESO) under the Explosives Rules, 2008.

Illegal imports and misdeclarations not only violate foreign trade and security laws, but also pose a serious threat to public safety and port infrastructure due to the high flammability of fireworks and firecrackers.DRI stated that it will continue to work on combating smuggling, maintaining national infrastructure, and protecting public safety.

If the fireworks and firecrackers that are concealed and falsely reported are shipped and transported, once an explosion occurs, it will cause devastating losses to all personnel and cargo on the ship, and will affect the entire cargo ship or port, with disastrous consequences.

According to previous reports, Chinese customs has also frequently reported cases of concealed and hidden dangerous goods. Not long ago, in September, Beilun Customs, a subsidiary of Ningbo Customs, reported that it had seized a large number of undeclared fireworks and firecrackers in containers, weighing about 10 tons.

In recent years, in order to obtain high profits, these criminals have exported fireworks and firecrackers through false reporting, concealment of reporting, hiding and entrainment, etc., which poses major risks and hidden dangers.Once discovered, the companies involved will not only face economic losses, but in serious cases will bear corresponding criminal liability in accordance with the law, and will implicate freight forwarders and customs declaration companies. Many relevant responsible persons have been subject to criminal coercive measures.

Once again, shippers are reminded to declare truthfully!Maritime affairs, ports, shipping companies, etc. at all ports strictly investigate the concealment of dangerous goods and other related behaviors. Do not conceal or conceal dangerous goods!Dear freight forwarding friends, please give another reminder to our customers!Forward to everyone~
