In response to media reports that the U.S. government requires Venezuela to cut off economic ties with China, Russia, Iran, and Cuba and only cooperate with the United States in oil production, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said on January 7 that Venezuela is a sovereign country and has full and permanent sovereignty over its natural resources and all economic activities.

Mao Ning said that the United States blatantly used force against Venezuela and demanded that Venezuela put "America first" when disposing of its own oil resources. This is a typical act of bullying, a serious violation of international law, a serious infringement of Venezuela's sovereignty, and a serious damage to the rights of the Venezuelan people. China strongly condemns this.

"I want to emphasize that the legitimate rights and interests of China and other countries in Venezuela must be protected." Mao Ning said.

On January 6, local time, U.S. President Trump announced that the Venezuelan interim government would transfer 30 million to 50 million barrels of oil to the United States. The oil will be sold at market prices, and the funds will be overseen by Trump to ensure they are used "to benefit the Venezuelan people and the American people."

Trump said he has asked Energy Secretary Chris Wright to implement the plan immediately. The oil will be loaded by storage vessels and transported directly to unloading terminals in the United States.

Venezuela has yet to make an official statement on this matter.

In the early morning of January 3, the United States launched a large-scale military attack on Venezuela, raided the Venezuelan capital Caracas, forcibly controlled President Maduro and his wife and transferred them out of the country.Trump also said that day that the United States would "manage" Venezuela until a "safe" transition is implemented.

Subsequently, Trump also stated that he would allow large American oil companies to invest in Venezuela to rebuild oil infrastructure and "create profits" for the United States. This statement further reveals the United States’ attempt to get involved in Venezuela’s oil resources.

Sources revealed that Trump plans to convene executives of U.S. oil giants on the 8th to discuss increasing Venezuelan oil production.
