Recently, large areas of Northern and Western Europe have experienced severe winter weather, and port and inland transportation operations have continued to be severely affected.

The world-renowned freight forwarder Kuehne + Nagel (K+N) and several shipping companies issued emergency warnings
Blizzards, extreme cold and other weather conditions have affected all major modes of transport including road freight, rail transport and inland shipping across Europe.
The current severe weather has caused operational delays and service interruptions at terminals and freight stations, traffic jams and road closures on major roads and expressways, a reduction in the number of available cargo loading and unloading bays, and weather-related congestion in various links of the supply chain.
This operational disruption has affected all core ports along Northern and Western Europe, and the impact is expected to continue in the next few days.

Hapag-Lloyd released the following latest updates on the disruption to German port operations:
01Port of Hamburg
From the early morning of January 3rd:
Eurogate: All operations in the terminal water and land areas have been completely suspended.
Hamburg Port Container Terminal (CTA): All terminal water and land operations are suspended. At present, water operations have resumed, but efficiency is still significantly reduced; rail and road freight services have also resumed, but transportation speeds are limited.
Hamburg Port Container Terminal (CTT): Railway and road freight continue to be suspended; although water operations are carried out normally, the progress is slow.
02Wilhelmshaven
Eurogate: Cargo operations have been slightly disrupted, and a full shutdown has not yet been implemented.
03Bremerhaven
Both Eurogate and Bremerhaven NTB Terminal reported minor disruptions in cargo operations, and no comprehensive shutdown measures were taken.
04Port of Rotterdam ECT Delta Terminal
All operations have been completely suspended until further notice. The authorities advise truck drivers not to go to the terminal.
05Port of Antwerp
On January 6, Hapag-Lloyd issued an announcement stating that the operating efficiency of the Port of Antwerp has declined and some terminal operations may face temporary suspension.
Affected by this, ships and cargo passing through the port are expected to be delayed.
In addition, starting from January 15, MSC will increase the FAK rates from all Far East ports (including but not limited to Japan, South Korea and Southeast Asian ports) to Northern Europe, specifically as follows:
A 20-foot container will increase by US$180 to US$2,400, and a 40-foot container will increase by US$300 to US$4,000.
Kuehne + Nagel stated in the announcement that heavy snowfall and extremely cold weather are expected to continue in the next few days, and port operations will continue to face delays, interruptions and restrictions.
Affected by this, the original cargo loading and unloading plan and terminal closing time may not be implemented as scheduled.
